[ Pick up your order ]
Option 1: pick up from farm Evergreen Acres Petting Farm, 4140 Cadwallader Ave. San Jose,CA95121
Option 2: pick up from Real Foods Bay Area drop locations (there are many all over the bay area. check for close locations at www.realfoodbayarea.com) This is very good for our customers who cannot pick up from our farm. There is a small cost (15%) adder to cover delivery expenses , that will still be required at Evergreen Acres. This will save you gas money and time. (for example: if you order 2 Quart milk $12, you only pay $1.80 for delivery fee).
Option 3: pick up from Three stone hearth in Berkeley on the first and third Wednesday 5:30pm-7pm of each month.

Remember to bring your cooler with ice when picking up your order. We often deliver milk only hours after milking and it may still be a little warm. It is important to chill it as fast as possible. Cars can get hot very quickly in the sun.
[ Return jars ]
If you return jars, we only accept our jars. It is very important to use clean jars with fresh raw milk. Jars used for garlic or pickling will make the milk smell off... It is not easy to wash this out without chemicals. We cannot reuse these jars. We do everything we can to provide a safe clean product including inspecting jars to be sure they are sterile and not contaminated. When they smell we cannot take the risk of using them. Please separate our jars with others and return them with your name on. When we get your return jars, we return your deposit.
For Local customer: If you prefer to use your own jars, you need to clean and sterilize your jars. Please make sure we have enough jars here for your monthly order. We prefer you drop your jars monthly so we do not need to worry about tracking your jars. It really helps us and keeps the drop location clear. It is messy when we find random bags and jars outside the cooler in the front door entrance.
We only clean and sterilize jars that you have paid a deposit on.

Thanks.

FYI:
Guernsey Goats
We have some new Guernsey goats to join our goat herd last year. If you have heard of Jersey cows famous for their creamy milk you should know and appreciate that Guernsey Goats are the goat equivalent that come from the two small British Islands in the English Channel not far from the Normandy coast of France. In the US purebred Guernseys are not yet well known as they are in the fifth year of a mandatory six year breeding period required by the ADGA (American Dairy Goat Association) to establish the herd in the US. We are one of the 15 US breeders of which there are only two are in California.
Raw Goat milk: Real Milk! same day milk and we delivery after finish milk. the milk still warm. We have Nubain goats and Guernsey goat ( only milkers in CA ). Milk high butter fat..6-8%.. Nature pasture over 10 acres, organic feeding...
Raw Goat Milk Yogurt : It is thick but has no added ingredients, We just add yogurt culture while the milk is fresh and warm (about 90 deg. F ) straight after milking ... totally Raw!! It tastes naturally sweet with no sign of a goaty tangy flavor. We called Live Yogurt. It has taken us some time to perfect the Yogurt process. Many of our customers have already tried samples and we got very good feedback.
Raw Goats milk Kefir and Chevre: thick, richer... We just add live kefir culture while the milk is fresh and warm (about 90 deg. F ) straight after milking ... totally Raw!!
Fresh Mozzarella: ( won first place in a national competition 2009) We are so lucky have Elizabeth join our business to make Fresh Mozzarella from fresh goat milk for us.
About us:
Evergreen Acres was started 2005 after we decided to develop our own farm business. Jane and Mike are both unversity educated professionals. Mike in engineering and semiconductor technology and Jane in embedded controller and software programmer. The goat farm was specifically developed for limited production of high quality raw goat milk. We primarily use Nubian and Guernsey goats that have the sweetest and most nutritious milk second only to pygmy goats. The result is fresh easily digestable goat milk that is distributed within hours of milking to people who need the nutritional value and cannot accept raw cow. When you drink our milk you will appreciate the enormous difference between our sweet milk and the goaty store products like Meyenberg that comes from larger goats. Many of our clients are doctors and nutritionists who have patients with serious health problems.
Many people have difficulty digesting raw or pasteurized cow milk. Pasteurization kills some but not all bad bacteria but infortunately also kills good bacteria and changes the milk proteins to be indigestible and sometimes even toxic to the human stomach. It takes from 8 to 12 hours to digest cow milk compared to 1 to 2 hours for goat milk. This explains why kid goats and people feel sleepy after drinking goat milk. It is beneficial to drink it late at night and sleep well. You will notice that we sell through a pet website developed by Jane www.PetsTouch.com. Legally we can only market raw milk as a pet product. People needing raw goat milk come to us directly and sign a Goat Share Agreement which means you are helping us feed and care for our goats and own shares in our goats making you a part owner. By law you are allowed to drink your own raw milk.
Milking is a tough business and doesnt pay well but we do this for our health and love for the goats that are wonderful animals and great very communicative pets.

Goats and grazing animals have been used for countless years as land management tools, and are a popular alternative to the land management conventions of mowing, disking, and burning. Managed Grazing takes into account multiple levels of the environment including: vegetation types, soil types, watershed functions, plant recovery mechanisms, nutrient flow and energy cycling. All can be managed, monitored, and improved with proper management procedure. Goats have been successfully used to control vegetation for thousands of years, but it wasn’t until recently that management techniques and expertise have made planned goat grazing the most effective method for Fire Mitigation , Noxious weed abatement and safe Land Management. Goats have been called the only environmentally friendly, solar-powered, self-propelled weed-eaters that produce no fossil fuels, noise pollution or fire hazards. Goats have the unique ability to convert overgrown and potentially fire hazardous grass, weeds, and brush into pastoral landscapes.
